Primary Purpose of Position
The College of Science and Technology (CoST) at North Carolina
A&T State University is seeking an experienced educator to
serve as the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education and
Academic Affairs. This position will be at the rank of Associate
Professor or higher. The position will begin in January 2025 at the
latest.
The Associate Dean reports directly to the Dean. The Associate Dean
will help advance the College's mission of integrating science and
technology to advance knowledge and prepare the next generation of
science and technology leaders. The College embraces the mission of
the University as a land-grant doctoral research institution with a
distinction in STEM by expanding new frontiers in science, creating
novel technologies, developing innovative approaches to STEM
teaching and learning, and formulating scientific and technological
solutions that lead to transformative social and economic
development.
The Associate Dean is a key member of the Dean's senior
administrative team. The Associate Dean will assist the Dean in
leading initiatives aimed at promoting academic excellence. The
Associate Dean is expected to work closely with the department
chairs, faculty, students, and staff on matters related to academic
affairs, undergraduate education, and their interfaces with
students. The Associate Dean will help oversee the academic
operations of the college and provide leadership to support program
and course development, program review, assessment and enhancement,
and accreditation of programs by accrediting organizations such as
ABET, ATMAE, and others. The Associate Dean will monitor faculty
workload, oversee the faculty teaching evaluation process, and
provide academic support and service to the faculty.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
N.C. A&T is a public, land-grant, doctoral research
institution, and has been the largest historically Black university
in the country for the past decade. With an enrollment of 14,311
students in Fall 2024, the university offers 59 undergraduate
degree programs, 36 master's programs, and 12 doctoral programs. It
is America's top producer of Black graduates in Engineering and
Agricultural Science bachelor's programs, as well as a top five
producer in numerous additional disciplines, including Liberal Arts
and Communications/Journalism. It also ranks no. 3 in master's
degrees awarded to Black graduates in Engineering Technologies and
Related Fields, no. 4 in master's degrees in Engineering, and no.
11 best business school for women in the nation.
Nationally recognized for its leadership and excellence in STEM

Research Activity in the Carnegie Classifications and is poised to
achieve R1-Very High Research Activity status. It also holds

Minimum Requirements
PhD in a STEM discipline represented in the College or in a closely
related field.
